My First Foaling Experience

Rainbow Bridge

Yes, I finally took the plunge and got Regal Paints on Facebook.  Yeah!!!!

Welcome to Regal Paints.  We are located above Sun River, Montana.   Sun River is named after the "Sun River.  The Sun River (also called the Medicine River) is a tributary of the Missouri River in the Great Plains, approximately 130 mi (209 km) long.  The town of Sun River is located among many Buttes in the Sun River Valley and close to the Rocky Mountains.  Ranch life and small town hospitality characterize this small community with a population of a little over 100.

The town of Sun River is eighteen miles west of Great Falls and one of the oldest settlements still active in the state.  The crossing here was used by travelers going from Fort Benton to the gold fields in western Montana.  Before the railroads came, this was a lively place where miners, trappers, and bullwhackers met.  A great stampede for what proved to be false gold discoveries occurred in the winter of 1866.

Our ranch consists of 75 acres.  We have a small hay field and raise about half of our hay.  We have many pastures for the horses to roam during the spring and summer.  Our main pasture consists of a large coulee down the middle that leads to a pond for drinking water.  Our mares and foals gets lots of exercise and develop great muscle tone by traversing the terrain.

I am slowly but surely working on a page showing our Ranch, Barns, Pastures, etc.  If you would like to see our place click here OUR RANCH.  Please note that all the links in the menu at the bottom are not working as I don't have those pages done yet.  I am working on them as I have time.

We have an abundance of wild life here thus our foals are exposed to a lot which makes for good safe horses that rarely spook.  They experience Deer, Coyotes, Cattle, Dogs, Rabbits, Birds, Prairie Dogs, Geese, Ducks, Pheasant, Pigs and much, much more.  There is even an occasional bear that travels through.  As we are a working ranch of sorts they are also exposed to Tractors, Gators, Power Tools, Haying Equipment, Irrigation, Vehicles of all kinds and the noises of construction.  Needless to say by the time the foal leaves here he has gotten used to a lot of activity and pretty much has experienced all that he might encounter out there in the world.

Regal Paints breeding program is aimed towards big boned powerful Paints with pretty heads and a gentle, eager to learn disposition with good minds, good conformation and a good set of feet and legs.   We have spent many years putting together a group of mares which have some of the best AQHA and APHA halter and performance bloodlines out there.  All of our breeding stock are sent to a Professional Trainer, Brett Fitzpatrick, for several months prior to being bred to insure they possess the qualities we are striving for.  If they do not meet our standards they are sold.  We want our buyers to be confident that they are getting only the best quality foals with gentle dispositions and are safe for all ages and experience.

With our Stallion "Citas Regal Prfection" we are concentrating on athletic "Cowy" Paints with balanced confirmations and huge hips that should excel in any cow discipline.   Legs as we call him is a very Classy Bay and White Homozygous Stud.   With his disposition, confirmation, athletic ability, willingness and great mind we feel that he is a real asset to our herd.  Add the fact that he has a pedigree full of Hall of Fame, World, Congress, National, Honor Roll, Canadian, APHA and AQHA Halter, Cutting, Reining, Heading, Heeling, Working Cow Horse, Steer Stopping, Roping, AQHA Running, Race, Futurity and Versatility CHAMPIONS he is truly the "KING" around here!!!

Our Tobiano Grulla Stallion "Cool Illusions" has won Grand Champion Halter, Reserve Grand Champion Halter and Numerous Firsts with very limited showing.   With his background we are able to offer Paints that will excel in Halter, Pleasure and Trail events as well.  Badger, as we call him, has a gorgeous head, beautiful color, excellent confirmation and a pedigree that can't be beat.   He's producing some AWESOME Show Quality foals with good color, calm dispositions that are very willing and easy to train.

Badger is the grandson of the infamous "Super Dry Ice".  Super Dry Ice holds an impressive show record which includes his APHA Championship (achieved as a three year old), Superiors in Western Pleasure, Trail and Reining, ROMs in Halter, Western Pleasure, Trail and Reining as well as numerous Champion, High Point, Honor Roll and World Show wins in Halter, Western Pleasure, Trail, Reining, and Working Cowhorse.

Our bloodlines go back to many of the best foundation stock and AQHA Hall of Fame Horses as well as some pretty impressive Paints as well.   Our AQHA Bloodlines consist of Doc Bar, Easy Jet, Sugar Bars, Two Eyed Fox, Peppy San Badger, Doc O'Lena, Go Man Go, Zippo Pat Bars, King, Miss N Cash, Doc N Missy, Doc's Zimfandel, Leo Pat, Three Bars, Lena's Bar, Jet Deck, Top Moon, Majestic Prince, Raise A Native, Native Dancer, Blondy Queen and too many other Champion Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds to mention.

Our Paint bloodlines consist of Tinky's Spook, Leo San Cita, Cita's Perfection, Copper Tinky, Super Dry Ice, On Ice, Painted Joe and many more.   We believe if you want quality Paints you MUST have quality in their bloodlines.

Here at Regal Paints we offer a couple incentives to the buyer of any of our horses.  One is a FREE Breeding to any of our standing stallions.  The other is a $100 Refund.  Click the HERE to be taken to the page for the details.

I wrote a story in 2001 of my first Foaling Experience.  It was so exciting, but yet I was scared to death at the same time.  It's pretty long, but some might found it an interesting read.  If you would like to read it, click here MY FIRST FOALING EXPERIENCE.

Thank you for dropping by.  I hope you enjoy your visit.  Please feel free to drop us an E:Mail if you have any questions or are interested in any of our horses.
